On these Memories pages are personal histories and stories of individuals who participated in one of the most significant events of the twentieth century. Historians can collect facts, dates, and photographs of events but those events do not come alive until the personal observations of people who were there become part of the history. In an effort to perpetuate the history of the two Block Island escort carriers and supporting destroyers these pages present some of those personal stories.

Unfortunately many of the crew members are no longer with us but we still want their stories. If you have any letters or documents written by a crew member that describes any of the history of the Block Islands please forward them to our newsletter editor, Bill MacInnes.
